Joyce Meyer has an amazing way of using her humor, her personal experiences, and the experiences of others to create a wonderful sense of intimacy between herself and the reader through nothing more than words on paper.  If that doesn’t make reading her books a great enough experience, she has a way of taking a topic quite complicated and making it very simple.  Living Beyond Your Feelings  is definitely no exception.

Feelings like anger, depression, compulsion, desire, etc. can be messy and too often we let them dictate our lives.  Many times this affects our relationships as well as our own personal well-being.  How many times have you tried to overcome your feelings?  How many times have you wanted to have more control over your emotions?  It’s hard, isn’t it?  But Meyer’s solutions are simple–easy to understand, and easy to do.  This book is full of, “Why didn’t I think of that?” moments because the answer is right in front of our face and yet we miss it.

The answer of course, is in God and Meyer helps us achieve complete control of our emotions by teaching us how to turn the control over to Him.  She offers chapter after chapter of simple, realistic ways to live beyond our feelings.  She combines the teachings of the Bible with the latest psychological research and in doing so, give us a wonderful model to follow.  Often, self-help books can be complicated and offer suggestions that are unrealistic or even impossible to follow in our own lives.  This book contains timeless, practical advice that anyone can adapt to their own particular circumstances.

This is definitely one of those books you’re going to want to keep handy and will refer to often.  Feelings are a sneaky thing and even when we think we have complete and total domination over them, they’ll find a way to regain control.  Let this book remind you again and again that the victory is yours.
